One day in Kodaikanal is enough to see the best of the town, as long as you plan the order well and don't stray too far. Here is a realistic hour-by-hour route that keeps the driving short and the walking pleasant, starting from central Kodaikanal.
Morning — start on foot
Begin early at Coaker's Walk, a short paved cliff path with a wide valley view that is clearest before the mist rolls in. From there it is a two-minute step to Bryant Park, the town's old flower garden. Then walk down to Kodaikanal Lake and take a slow pedal-boat or a stroll along the boulevard.
- 8:00–9:00 am — Coaker's Walk, near Lake Road.
- 9:10–10:00 am — Bryant Park, right next door.
- 10:15–11:30 am — Kodaikanal Lake and its boulevard.
Afternoon — the forest and the rocks
After an early lunch in town, head out towards Pillar Rocks Road. The Pine Forest comes first, quiet avenues of tall trees, followed by the Guna Caves and, a little further, the Pillar Rocks viewpoint, where three granite columns rise straight out of the hillside. Close the day back near the lake at the Upper Lake View and Anna Salai market.

- 2:15–3:00 pm — Guna Cave, near Pillar Rocks.

The trick to one day in Kodaikanal is a short base-to-sight distance. Every extra kilometre is a view you miss.
A note on tickets and timing
Most of these spots charge only a small entry fee, and several close by around 4:30 in the afternoon, so the order above matters: do the ticketed sights before they shut and leave the free lake views for the end. This plan only works because the sights sit close together and close to town. Stay central and you spend the day seeing Kodaikanal, not driving to it.
